The municipality has therefore used a systematic management database, becoming one of the first municipalities in the country to use city data to seriously manage waste. In collaboration with Chiang Mai University, it has requested food scraps from shops to be sent to the gas fermentation process to produce electricity, while data from the municipality’s application has helped plan collection and reduced the amount of waste from restaurants throughout the municipality by up to 70%.
